Issue
Decision came down to install an X-ray inspection system to inspect for metallic foreign bodies on a new production line. We were looking for an inspection system with good performance.
Solution
In addition to inspecting for metallic foreign bodies, we introduced an X-ray inspection system able to inspect for seal defects. Inspection items could be added to original plan, leading to improved quality.
Background：Installation of an X-ray inspection system is essential as part of measures to prevent leakage of foreign bodies.
Safety concerns surrounding food production are highten every year. Products contaminated with metallic foreign bodies may be compromised in quality and safety. For delivering safe and secure products to consumers, focusing on preventing outflow of defective products will help enhance our brand image. We were looking for a high-performance inspection system for our new drip bag coffee production line.
Reason of installation：Quality improvement with an inspection system also simultaneously able to perform seal inspection.
In initial consideration of an X-ray inspection system introduction, we received a proposal for an X-ray inspection system that could detect not only foreign bodies but also jammings in outer bag seals. We believe that our decision to install the X-ray inspection system, capable of detecting jammings causing drip bag damages and poor seals and affecting shelf life, will lead to further quality improvement.
How it works：Stable operation with high detection sensitivity. Single inspection system can inspect two items, saving space.
Both foreign body and jamming inspections are highly sensitive and stable. We are satisfied with the ability to detect even small inclusions that are difficult to distinguish by visual or palpatory inspections. In addition, a single inspection system, able to perform both foreign body and jamming inspections simultaneously, delivers inspection space saving.

Both Foreign body & Seal fault are detected with one system. After packaged even with aluminum or other material, the X-ray and optical system see inside and find “Jamming (Seal fault)”, “Foreign object”, “Relative mass”, “Shape”, “Numbers”, “Length”, etc.
